I arrived in Dallas fresh out of college in late January of 1976, and I had a great time at many places. ĭiamond Jim's was in the building that formerly housed Whiskey River in the mid-70's it became a Cowboy place about the time the Urban Cowboy craze started. Just found this place and read a few of the pages. The windowless building was bought by an asian woman named Kim and converted into a nice little neighborhood bar called Kims Place.
Down from the Motel at Samuel and Tennison Pkwy.
Just east of Dolphin on Samuel was the old Eastern Hills Motel (which believe it or not is still there.much worse for the wear). After Icky Twerps, it became a strip club called Baby O's.which had to be renamed a couple years later to Baby G's, since there was already a Baby O's in Houston at the time. That place was Packed shoulder to shoulder every weekend. A block away at Dolphin and Merrifield (I-30 service rd) was Icky Twerps Lamp Post Club. Thirsty Thirty's was also there before KC Disco at Samuel and Dolphin. One of the owners was Terry Longshore (They also opened KC North.Southeast corner of Abrams and N.W. Southwest corner of Dolphin and Samuel was KC Disco. Further east was the Gator Club and Log Tavern. The Lido Adult theater was next to Debonair (country western bar). Started with the Debonair on the west end and ended with Kellers Drive In on the East end. in East Dallas, back in the 70's and early 80's. How about all the clubs down on Samuel Blvd. Wow.all the old memories this thread has brought back.
